Volunteer Faculty and Retired Physicians

As a retired physician, there are a variety of opportunities for you to contribute to academics and education at USC School of Medicine Greenville.

Interested in helping educate medical students? Physicians must have a volunteer faculty appointment, and any physician is welcome to apply. Complete an application by clicking here, downloading the information packet here. Please contact Claire Gregg at cgregg@ghs.org to begin the process, which includes a background check and verification of professional credentials.

Retired physicians are also invited to join our Physicians Engaged in Education in Retirement (PEER) group by founder and acting director William Hines, M.D. Meetings are held quarterly and offer a new way to stay engaged with the region’s medical community through presentations from Greenville Health System (GHS) senior management and the medical school. A prior affiliation with GHS is not necessary to join the PEER group. Contact Tracey Herlong at therlong@ghs.org for more information.

Every physician has stories and experiences to share beyond our campus. That’s why we invite you to share ideas for our student blog -- transformingmedschool.com. Some of our most popular posts have been read by more than 1,200 individuals. Contact Jeanne Petrizzo at petrizzo@greenvillemed.sc.edu for more information about contributing to the blog.

Our state-of-the-art simulation center is in need of experienced physicians to teach today’s and tomorrow’s health professionals. Contact Rob Morgan at rmorgan@ghs.org for more information about volunteer opportunities at Greenville HealthCare Simulation Center.

Interested in training to be a standardized patient or assisting in the Clinical Skills Center? Contact Ryne Ackard at (864) 455-2282.
